Eight Brazilian schools from the international network “Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) came together in Santana de Parnaíba for the Brazilian round of the PASCH tournament. Participants included five schools from the São Paulo region and three schools from Porto Alegre.
There was no referee overseeing the games, which were played by boys and girls in mixed teams. Rather than merely counting the number of goals scored, the teams could also earn points for fair and respectful behaviour. After two days of games there was a clear winner: the six students from São Paulo’s Colégio Humboldt will represent Brazil during this summer‘s final round of the PASCH tournament in Berlin.
Workshops and community activities preceded the tournament. The aim of these events was to introduce German to the students by learning through play and also to give them the opportunity to get to know one another and to learn more about the tournament message of fair play.
Network members work together
This collaboration offered streetfootballworld network member EPROCAD the opportunity to work alongside fellow network members. The pre-tournament workshops and mediation were supported by representatives from Formação, Bola pra Frente and the Associação Cristã de Moços do Rio Grande do Sul (ACM RS).
“What an amazing experience! It was not only goals that counted but also respect. We are very pleased to have been given this opportunity and to meet and get to know young people from other countries,” said Rayssa Pereira from Colégio Humboldt.
The tournament in Brazil was just one in a series of international PASCH tournaments, supported by the German Foreign Office under the initiative of international sport promotion “Move People”. PASCH tournaments were also held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, India, Cameroon and South Africa. The PASCH tournaments were organised by streetfootballworld and streetfootballworld network members.
