The second group stage of the Football for Hope tournament kicked off today. 112 matches have already been played in the first four days of the festival to
the cheers of thousands of fans from Alexandra and around the world, with the 32 teams netting an impressive 342 goals between them!
According to the overall points in the first round, the teams have been
re-grouped to play the second group stage on July 8th and 9th.
The first four teams of each group will play for the Football for Hope Festival
Trophy, while the last four teams of the group will play to win the Alexandra
Cup. This mode of playing ensures that all participants get the most out of the
tournament and play until the last day!
Contrary to the FIFA World Cup, in which most African teams were eliminated in
the first round, the Football for Hope Festival has witnessed many strong
African sides: eight of the 16 teams in the group for the Football for Hope
