Asociación Civil Gurises Unidos (GGUU) was founded in 1989 to protect and promote the rights of disadvantaged children and young people in Uruguay. GGUU has evolved into one of South America’s most renowned NGOs in this field, with a broad range of ongoing programmes focusing on topics such as child labour, vocational training, street children, gender and civil society.
In 1998, Gurises Unidos started to systematically integrate football as a tool to raise participation levels among target groups that are especially hard to reach. Since late 2007, GGUU has been developing the National Street Football League in Uruguay with fellow streetfootballworld network member Mundo Afro.
