Community facts
The centre is in the heart of Maseru, Lesotho’s capital. The Lesotho Football for Hope Centre not only serves its immediate community but will also be the central hub for Kick4Life’s programmes nationwide. Lesotho, a small kingdom within South Africa, has the world's third-highest prevalence of HIV and high levels of poverty. 75% of the approximately two million inhabitants in Lesotho live in rural areas.

Programmes
 |
Kick4Life uses the Football for Hope Centre as a hub for its coaches
and participants and plans and pilots interventions for the whole of
Lesotho. At the core of Kick4Life’s programmes is the K4L Curriculum, a
health education and life-skills course based on fellow Centre Host
Grassroot Soccer’s Skillz model. The centre is also the venue for
regular events of the award-winning Test Your Team campaign which
incorporates HIV education and testing with football tournaments. |
K4L’s answer to the high number of out-of-school children and young people in Lesotho who cannot afford school fees is the Orphan & Vulnerable Children Scholarship Scheme. Through this bursary, disadvantaged pupils who would otherwise not have the means to stay in school are able to go to secondary school. Alongside paying school fees, K4L supports students with ongoing mentoring and volunteering opportunities.
The Lesotho Football for Hope Centre is also a site for continued work with street children in Maseru. A Street Youth Initiative, a daily programme for street children to play football, have fun and access key support services, is currently being piloted at the centre.
